Frando's blog

unbiskant.org has a new theme!

Finally, it’s done!

I’ve been working on this theme sporacially over the last two months or so, and now I finally feel confident enough to put it “live”.

So, unbiskant.org is still moving slowly, but it’s moving. Some more content, soon, too, and a co-writer… so stay tuned! ;)

Schema API in Drupal!

I’ve been away for the weekend, and have just checked the Drupal issue queue, and …
the Schema API patch got commited! Yay!

About a year back, I started to work on some functions to abstract table/field creation and alteration - first patch on May 13, 2006. It didn’t make it into Drupal 5, and I thought about all this some more, and other people did so, too.

Get reflected

After several issues and heaps of discussion on the mailing list, I just posted an actual patch that tries to implement data reflection in drupal - each table gets its data model, defined in a callback function. And: all tables will be created only out of these data models.

Sounds interesting? The patch - in a very rough, early stage - is here.

First Drupal podcast in German

I just spoke in the first German Drupal podcast ever! Yay!
Konstantin Käfer (kkaefer) had the idea, and we also had Hagen Graf (who wrote a German Drupal book) and Gerhard Killesreiter (Drupal core commiter) on board.

We spoke about Drupal in general, about why we chose Drupal, about its community, and also gave some pracital tips for newcomers, e.g. where to get help (forum, IRC, the Drupal Dojo, …).

It was quite chaotic, we had some technical struggles, but hey, it was the first time, and it was good fun!

The final (and cutted) podcast is published on drupalcenter.de.

Improve categorization of drupal modules

Update: I published a slightly improved version of this on http://groups.drupal.org/node/3447 . Please comment on it there instead of here.

It is a known fact that the drupal modules page (http://drupal.org/project/Modules) is not perfect. There’s a lot of discussion going on about how to gather module quality metrics, wether to enable a voting module or not, etc.

So,
finally I've managed it to put my little drupal playground and blog online.
I don't know yet what exactly is going happen here, but I felt the need for a place like this to blog about drupal or other web development stuff from time to time, maybe put some demos up, etc.

Let's see what the future will bring! ;-)
